Founded somewhere around the early 1800s, Brookhaven became its own city, in charge of its own recreation, safety and other departments in 2012. Now the largest city in Dekalb County, Brookhaven is recognized as a premier suburb of the metro Atlanta area. However, Brookhaven isn’t just another little charming community. It provides residents with the quaint feel of a town mile away from city limits, while being right in the thick of it all. Right along the infamous Peachtree Road, areas such as Chamblee and Buckhead are just down the street, while the center of the City of Atlanta, is just a little further down. This has made Brookhaven real estate a very attractive option for growing families over the last few years.
In addition to the recreational activities, shopping and restaurants available throughout the metro Atlanta area, Brookhaven offers its residents a multitude of options, as well. The area is host to 11 different parks to serve residents, as well as the Nancy Creek Path. There is also access to many prime golf courses, such as the historic Peachtree Golf Club.
The area is also known for education. Renowned private schools, such as Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic School, St. Martin in the Fields Episcopal School, and Marist School are conveniently located in the area.
Brookhaven homes include a variety of options for residents. The area offers a number of subdivisions that are perfect for families, along with mixed-used residences, modern homes and townhomes. Neighborhoods such as Lynwood Park have been a diamond in the rough for potential residents, as many craftsman-style homes have popped in the area of the last few years. Of course, there is also Historic Brookhaven, has a host of homes that were designed by many notable pre-war Atlanta Architects. With all of these options available, it’s no wonder that Brookhaven real estate listings are so popular.
