There are three important things to know about Johns Creek: 1) It's new. While this unique community has a very interesting past, it was incorporated as a city in 2006. 2) It sits on the Chatthoochee, a scenic and significant river in Georgia's history. 3) Johns Creek is affluent, ranking as Georgia's wealthiest city. The scenic Chattahoochee River has multiple places where paddlers can put in or take out their boats. Several festivals dot the calendar, including Founders Week in December, to celebrate the incorporation of the City. The Atlanta Lawn Tennis Association has thousands of members and is one of the oldest organized recreation leagues in the US. Among six golf courses in Johns Creek, the renowned Atlanta Athletic Club was home to the 2011 PGA Championship, and to the 2014 U.S. Amateur. Johns Creek public schools consistently ranks as among the best in the nation.
