Ladies and Gentlemen,
We are all joined together in seeking to understand the events stemming from the upsetting death of George Floyd and the resulting impact to both our local community and those across the country. The dialogue and reflection resulting from the national situation are important and should not be overlooked. While each of us needs to process the news and personally seek to understand the complex issues, it is more important now than ever before that we join together and make clear the values of our company. Our vision has always been to do the right thing every day to earn the trust and respect of each other, our clients, and our customers. Our culture is one of inclusiveness, diversity and integrity. To be clear, racism has no home here.
Like many of you, we’re deeply saddened by the events that unfolded in the Atlanta area. Our hearts go out to everyone impacted and suffering during this especially difficult time. Atlanta is the cradle of the civil rights movement and home to great leaders like Martin Luther King, Jr., Ambassador Andrew Young and Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms. As stewards of this legacy and purveyors of the American dream, we continue to provide the opportunity of home ownership to all people fairly and without bias.
We have been through so much together in the last 90 days. Candidly, I believe that we have not seen the end of the pandemic and these grievous events. I am proud of the resilience and focus by our communities during a time of great emotional strain. To quote Dr. King, “The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.”
Ladies and gentlemen, let’s stand together and do what we can to bring healing and change to our city and our country. Simple acts of civility, kindness and compassion do matter. Stay safe and be well.
