In this special edition of the Real Estate Redefined Series, Dan Forsman gives a brief history of the 4th of July and wishes everyone a safe and happy Independence Day.
Hello, Dan Forsman here …
I want to wish everyone a safe and Happy Independence Day. It is easy to enjoy our cookouts, fireworks and fun – but miss the opportunity to appreciate the real meaning of this holiday. The 4th of July is a federal holiday commemorating the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776. During the American Revolution, the legal separation of the Thirteen Colonies from Great Britain actually occurred on July 2, 1776, when the Second Continental Congress voted to approve a resolution of independence declaring the United States independent from Great Britain. After voting for independence, Congress turned its attention to the Declaration of Independence, a statement explaining this decision, which had been prepared by a Committee of Five, with Thomas Jefferson as its principal author. As we spend time with our loved ones, please take time to remember what this holiday is all about. We are blessed to live in this amazing country – one nation, under God, indivisible with liberty and justice for all.
Please enjoy this video that follows and we wish everyone a safe and Happy Independence Day!
