Lake Burton is a 2,775-acre reservoir surrounded by 62 miles of shoreline in the Northeast region of Georgia. Acting as the first in a six-lake series known as the Tallulah River Watershed, the lake is a destination for permanent residents and visitors alike. The lake was originally built as part of the Georgia Power Company’s hydroelectric energy project, but today it acts more as a nature retreat than anything else.

Permanent residents and visitors come out to the lake every year, making up the Lake Burton Civic Association that maintains the lake through volunteer cleanups and maintenance.
