Pickens County is home to 29,431 people (2010 census) and 232 square miles of land, a portion of which is part of the Appalachian Mountains. Located in the Atlanta metropolitan region, Pickens County bridges the gap between suburbia and the great outdoors. One of the biggest draws to the region is its role as one of the southernmost points of the Blue Ridge Mountains. It also has a history with the Appalachian Trail, once acting as the trail’s terminus.
